Thoughts From Atop The Lair 12/26/2010

lair bannerI am TMIB, The Man In Black. I sit high atop my lair observing the wrestling word. In this BLOG I discuss the happenings in the WWE and TNA.

Since we have just went through the Thanksgiving and Christmas and New year's is right around the corner, and since this is the time of giving I would write this week about the WWE and the things they do for the troops.

WWE gets a lot of flack about this and that but being that the ratings for the last weeks shows were very high and all where focused on the troops and what they do for our country makes me think WWE does a pretty good job for our boys and girls in uniform.

All political views go out the Window it seem as far as the WWE locker room as well as the crew, and the administration team.  They give the troops free all access passes to see there favorite Superstar, Diva or announcer.  Being a family member of a nephew , and 4 cousins overseas I tip my hat and give WWE a well deserved Hacksaw Jim Dugan thumbs up.

Most Superstars that go say it is the time that means the most to them.  I tip my hat to Superstars like CM Punk, John Cena, Rey Mysterio just to name a few not to mention the many Diva's, Crew and support  staff that travel including Vince McMahan that make the LONG and GRUELING trip to Iraq.  War is a dangerous place folks..they aren't wearing Flack jackets and body armor for nothing.

My nephew was at a show in Iraq.  He told his mom.."I wasn't a wrestling fan much before that day..I watched only because I broke the reality of where I was..but after the show was over..I was doing my best John Cena impression and felt that the real world was still out there..it also reminded me WHAT I was fighting for......freedom"

Those words still hit me hard today.  So yall get off the WWE's back and pat them there for a change.  They touch many soldier's live on the the trips they take overseas and around the country, so give them some slack.  And as you go though your day...whether you voted for Obama or you voted McCain, whether you voted Democrat or Republican...In soldier talk "They believe they are only AMERICANS on the battle field" so shake a soldier’s hand and tell them thank you for your freedom.

Good job WWE....Good Job.

I am TMIB, The Man In Black. I sit high atop my lair observing the wrestling world. In this BLOG I discuss the happenings in the WWE and TNA.  This week I wanted to do a book review.  Cross-Rhodes: Goldust Out Of The Darkness came out on December 14th hot off the press.  It's available at a Book store near you or on your Kindle.

My wife and I was given the Kindle version by a very special friend.  I read the book and honestly it it was an easy read.  I've never meet Goldust and set down and chatted about life in the business but this is what it felt like.  I sat down and chatted about his career and his life.  He takes credit for the good and the bad.  He doesn't make excuses like others have.

The book covers a lot...it allows us into his adolescent thoughts about life in general, his father, his mother and his road through life.  You are aloud to see the relation between father and son, and the fact that both weren't perfect but found the love they both have for each other out weighed the indifference.  Having a dad that was bigger than life to me made this part of the book stand out.

The book gives a point of view from a rookie entering the wrestling world, experiencing the up and downs of the business to a veteran going from push to shove.  Let's the new fans know its not all planes and high-class hotels but hard work and hard times.  It let's the hardened longtime fan appreciate their favorite wrestlers more.

I believe this book could be a prologue to a series. The chapters in this book could represent a different book.  I believe this book gives me as a fan a better understanding not only of Goldust but of Dustin. It shows us he is human and his feeling and emotions are just like ours...real and unique. I as a fan am honored to read it. Thank you Goldust and Dustin

I am TMIB, The Man In Black. I sit high atop my lair observing the wrestling word. In this BLOG I discuss the happenings in the WWE and TNA.

This week I must send thanks to www.FTWnews.com for letting me write for them.  Check my links and check them out.  Also check out the guys at www.wrestlerage.com.

Sometimes we forget that our favorite wrestlers are human.  Some closer to superhuman than other but human nonetheless.  Some fly from on high sailing through the air like characters from a comic book.  I have heard the younger fans say things like “He isn’t really hurt is he” or “She fell a special way..right”  From chair shots to falling through tables, to just having a bad day where things just don’t go right.  Our hero’s get injured from time to time.

I still flinch at the site of the video of Psycho Sid’s leg breaking and turning to jello.  Man that made my stomach knot up.  Injuries of this sort are rare but I believe it the injuries you cant see that can be worse.

I mean think of the testosterone it took for Triple H to know his quad had detached from the bone, but didn’t want to let the fans down and continued the match till a suitable finish was reached.  That’s just…ok they have to be big and hairy.  I’m a nurse people that hurt..he may not have said it but it hurt like hell.

Wrestlers are some of the most well trained athletes in the world.  They wrestle and travel sometimes 300+ days a year, they have no off season and most would do it for near what me and you make a year.  They do it for the love of the sport and most don’t raise hell and try to strike if they don’t have their special water in the locker room.

So next time someone gives you that old line “Well crap…Wrestling is fake!”  Say ok it’s fake…lets see its nearly 10 foot from the top turnbuckle to the floor.  So you climb on the house and dive into someone and we will see just how fake it is.  I want to see Brett Favre or LeBron James jump off the top rope and hit a leg drop.

To Finish I want to send a shout out to all the wrestlers taking care of injuries..we send good wishes and say get well with God’s speed.

I am TMIB, The Man In Black. I sit high atop my lair observing the wrestling word. In this BLOG I discuss the happenings in the WWE and TNA.

This entry finds John Cena "fired" from the WWE and Nexus still ruining rating....Yaaaawnnnnn.  Which is what the fans are talking about on Twitter and every other social network.  WWE has in the last week produced some decent programming giving he fans hope but its not consistent.  Nexus has a big fan base yes, but it isn't big enough to shout out everyone else.

I admit, at time WWE pushed Cena down our throats.  However they show promise that there is some life left in their creative team.  Pushing Randy Orton's Chaotic neutral...oh sorry, I forget every one doesn't know what that means.  Stone Cold Steve Austin.......oh come on people...sigh...they are fan favorites but are not hero's...unpredictable and just as much as help you or RKO, Stunner or DDT your ass.  Randy Orton is truly a viper...by this i mean a snake kills mice which are bad for humans but that snake will bite you.  NOW that...is a cool wrestler.

OK..The Miz.  I know I have been hard on him.  He used his MITB contract and became champ.  Never met the Miz but if he isn't as big of an ass as he plays on TV then he deserves and award.  He has talent..and with praises coming from veterans such as Goldust hey, the guy must be at least decent.

Speaking of the Golden one...Our prayers go out to him and his family and we wish him well in his surgery on the 10th of December.  I know that his family and Team Goldie of Twitter fame would appreciate the prayers and the well wishes.  If you would like to wish a get well statement in 140 characters or less then let him know you care here @WWEGoldust on Twitter.  You must have a Twitter account to do so.  If you dont have a Twitter account.....well hell where you been...LOL.

That's it for now but let me put a shout out to @TWIBRULZ and to all in #teamgoldie.  Until next time remember I am always around waiting...watching from a shadow near you.
